By plainLavacolla Airport (phone: +34 902 404 704 ) is the airport of Santiago de Compostela. It is 10 km away (15 min by car) from Santiago de Compostela downtown. There is a fairly good bus service : the price of one-way tickets is 3€ and the last stop in town is Rua General Pardiñas. Or you can hire a taxi (21€). By trainThe Train Station is in the center of the city (phone: +34 981 520 202). Long-distance: direct daily trains link up with Madrid, with San Sebastian, Hendaye and with Barcelona. Changing train once, there is a daily service to Bilbao, Portugal and Paris, as well as nearly all of Spain’s main cities. Regional: there are trains approximately every hour to A Coruña and Vigo, with connections to Portugal. Trans-Cantabrian: panoramic train that goes through north and northwest Spain, the ‘Green Spain’, from San Sebastian, in the Basque Country, to Santiago de Compostela. By busBus Station (phone: +34 981 542 416). Bus is also a convenient way to travel to and from Santiago de Compostela. Local routes in Galicia are served by local bus company Monbus.
By carAtlantic Motorway AP-9: links Santiago de Compostela with A Coruña, Ferrol, Pontevedra, Vigo, Tui and the portuguese border. Northwest Dual Carriageway A-6: links Galicia with the rest of Spain via Lugo province (links up with Santiago via the AP-9 near A Coruña). Rías Baixas Dual Carriageway A-52: links Galicia with the rest of Spain via Ourense province (links up with Santiago via the AP-9 in Vigo or by means of the N-525 road in Ourense). AP-53 / AG-53 Motorway: links Santiago with Lalín, connecting with the AG-53 motorway to Ourense and Madrid. Cantábrico Dual Carriageway A-8: links Galicia with France via the Cantabrian coast (links up with Santiago via the Northwest Dual Carriageway A-6). |
