The
Casa de Europa (House of Europe) is a university residence hall to lodge teachers
from other universities all over the world, as they come to Santiago de Compostela,
more and more frequent, in order to join our teaching and research activities.
The main aim of the University of Santiago de Compostela is to offer a historical
university residence hall for participants involved in academic activities,
so that there will be an international projection of our university. The Finca
Simeon (Simeon property) or Finca Vista Alegre (Vista Alegre property) -such
is the beautiful sight that may be appreciated from the historic city and
the very gardens- gathers at this moment two buildings of the
University of Santiago de Compostela;
the Centro de Estudios Avanzados (Centre
for advanced research studies) and the
Casa de Europa. Those were transferred to the University of Santiago by the
consortium of Santiago, due to the celebration of the 500th anniversary of
the University of Compostela. Turning private property in public property
allows us to recuperate one of the more valuable properties in the core of
Compostela.
The Casa de Europa has got six rooms for a double or single use, and it has
also several meeting places, which provide the best intellectual atmosphere
either for meetings and for lecturers themselves, since they can enjoy their
accomodation while participating in congresses, conferences, courses or forums
sponsored by the University of Santiago de Compostela. The staff who is responsible
for the mainteinance of the Vista Alegre complex tries hard to provide personal
touch to the hall. That is why they do take care of all details at their best,
in order to make guests feel as comfortable as it is possible during their
stay. The Casa de Europa is located in a strategic site. That is an ideal
place to get to know all the aspects of the city: its culture (museums, churches
and monuments), its shops and markets, its gastronomy and its night life.
All of them are at hand. Rates and reservations may be made through e-mail.
