The Seminar of Studies of Defense of the University of Compostela-CESEDEN's Santiago is a specialized agency in the analysis and study as for Security. The above mentioned Seminar, of multidisciplinary character, is integrated(repaid) both by university teachers and by pupils of different licentiates. In the Seminar it is a question of answering to the challenges that as for Security there raises the current society, in whom the risks and emergent threats and the change of geopolitical and strategic scene(stage) re-measure the categories in game. In this order of things, there lends special attention to Europa's paper(role) in the new international scene(stage) and to how the conflicts of the present must be managed. The vision, necessarily, has to be international, state, regional and local, if we want to find satisfactory and effective solutions.

His(Her,Your) ordinary activities serve for the obtaining of the Diploma of Studies of Defense, for which the assistants(attendees) must come to such activities during three four-month periods, beside elaborating a work tutorizado on a topic related to the Security. This Diploma has recognized an academic value of five credits of free configuration, which serve for all the licentiates and diplomaturas dealed in the University of Santiago de Compostela. The ordinary activities are in the habit of consisting of presentations(papers) given by invited specialists, who proceed so much the university field as(like) of the political or technical area. In the last years the assistants'(assistant,attendees') average is of approximately sixty.

Likewise, the Seminar also organizes extraordinary activities, which nature is diverse. In this respect, there exists a Course(Year) of Management of Crisis and Mutation of the Procedure of the Use of the Force, of four-month duration. The above mentioned Course(Year) is orientated to the pupils of the licentiates in Law and in Political Sciences. Of equal form, every course(year) effects(carries out) a visit to some entity or organism(organisation) related to topics of Security. Also there exists in the bosom of the Seminar a Delegation of Cultural Activities on which there depend diverse sports equipments(teams) who compete in the university leagues. Finally, and of way bianual, one organizes the Congress on Security, Defense and Internet, an event of international character.
