La decimoprimera edición del Encuentro Peptídico Ibérico (XI EPI) se celebrará en la Facultad de Química de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela entre los días 6 y 7 de marzo de 2008.

Esta reunión científica reune periódicamente a los investigadores españoles y portugueses que desarrollan su actividad en el campo de los péptidos.

El Encuentro Peptídico Ibérico es tradicionalmente un foro enfocado a la participación de los investigadores más jóvenes, muchos de los cuales realizan sus primeras comunicaciones orales en estos encuentros.

Este año estamos especialmente orgullosos de contar como conferenciantes invitados con dos figuras de primer orden en la química biológica como son la Prof. Barbara Imperiali (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) y el Prof. Herbert Waldmann (Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biology de Dortmund).

El programa científico incluye además la presentación de comunicaciones orales (15 min) en cualquiera de los aspectos de la química de péptidos: síntesis, reactividad, estructura y aspectos biomédicos. El formato del programa será similar al de reuniones precedentes, con sesiones de mañana y tarde durante dos días. El hotel programado para los asistentes al congreso es el Hotel Hesperia Peregrino, próximo al Campus Sur y a la sede del congreso.

General Information

The 11th edition of the Iberian Peptide Meeting (XI EPI) will take place in the Facultade de Química of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela on march 6th and 7th, 2008.

This scientific meeting periodically gathers Spanish and Portuguese researchers whose work is focused in the study of peptides.

The Iberian Peptide Meeting is traditionally a meeting particularly appropiate for participation of younger researchers, many of which give their first oral communication in these meetings.

This year we are particularly proud of having as invited speakers two of the leaders in the field of chemical biology: Prof. Barbara Imperiali (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Dr. Herbert Waldmann (Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biology in Dortmund).

The scientific program will also  include oral communications (15 min) in any aspect of peptide chemistry, from synthesis and reactivity to structure and biomedical applications. The scientific program will keep the same format as previous EPI meetings, with intensive sessions during morning and afternoon for two days. The meeting hotel will be the Hesperia Peregrino, which is close to the Campus Sur and to the meeting venue.
