Description
Created in collaboration with the Department of Contemporary History and of America in December 2005, within the frame of the activities organized by the Juana de Vega Foundation to commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of its founder (1805), it has as objectives the pomotion of the development of activities both of research, education, debate and dissemination of three main aspects of Galician contemporary history:
- Enlightened thought and liberal political project.
- The contribution of woman to the liberal thought and project paying special attention to the life and work of Mrs. Juana de Vega.
- Modernizing initiatives and progresses of the Galician farming world from the 19th century.
According to this, apart from the financing of pre/posdoctoral research scholarships on the subjects above, the organization of biannual discussion seminars on liberal thought and project, as well as actions aimed at the dissemination will be activities of the Chair.
