Received his bachelor’s degree (1979) and doctorate (1983) in Medicine and Surgery from USC. He is Ophthalmologist (1984). He earned a Fulbright fellowship and a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant for postdoctoral work at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland (1984-1986). He also earned a fellowship from European Science Foundation and from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for postdoctoral work at the University of Marburg (1987-1988). He recently spent a sabbatical year at the Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London. Promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1987, now holds a chair in ophthalmology at USC. He was secretary of the School of Medicine and Odontology, USC (1991-1995). His research concerns vision, neuroscience, ophthalmology, and telemedicine.

Description

It is the vice-rectorship in charge of coordinating all the actions of research and innovation of the USC. Its main tasks are elaborating a plan of R and D and i of the USC, spreading into society the progresses in scientific knowledge made by the USC and watching over the transfer of research results to the private and public sectors.
