The USC Institutional Chairs are specialised areas for reflection, debate, study and research in all academic fields where there is a recognised need to improve relations between the University community and other organizations, and serve as focal points for projecting the exterior image of the University.
The overall aim of the establishment of this system of collaboration between the USC and businesses, institutions and/or patrons is to develop and increase the offer of complementary activities in teaching, research and the transfer of knowledge, and to provide a means of obtaining external resources for carrying out these activities.
The creation of the USC Institutional Chairs is formalised in an agreement reached between the USC and one or more businesses, foundations, institutions and/or patrons who will contribute to their funding according to the objectives mentioned above and the conditions described below.
The initiative for the creation of the USC Chairs may by taken, on one hand, by the University teaching staff (endorsed by some official USC organization: Department, Faculty, Institute), to the University Departments, Centres or Institutes, and on the other hand, by foundations, businesses, patrons or institutions not connected to the University.
