The Galician Institute of High Energy Physics (IGFAE) is a joint research institute of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Autonomous Regional Government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia). It comprises 30 researchers, 21 of which are professors at the USC.
The scientific activity of the IGFAE covers the following areas
- Elementary Particle Physics
- Astroparticle Physics
- Mathematical Physics
- Phenomenology of Particle Physics
- Nuclear Physics
including both their more basic experimental and theoretical aspects, aimed at the understanding of the structure of matter and of the Universe, and their applications, including advanced scientific instrumentation, GRID technologies, microelectronics, solar energy, etc.
