The Astronomical Observatory "Ramón Mª Aller" was founded in 1943 by Ramón Mª Aller as an extension of his private observatory in Lalín (Pontevedra). Since then, several research projects have been developed, agreements on scientific cooperation with other institutions have been signed and different scientific meetings organized. An intense teaching activity is carried out at the Centre where university students of astronomy do their practical training.
The Observatory's library is one of the most complete of its kind in Spain. In recent years, the Centre has promoted a great number of cultural activities. Among the main lines of research developed by the Observatory staff we must mainly notice the study of double and multiple stars. Currently, the International Astronomical Union Comission 26 Information Circular is being edited quartely at the Observatory.
