The Universia Classroom is a technological working and study area which has as main objective the promotion of student access to information technologies. It is located in the Concepción Arenal Legal Library at the South Campus; it is available for all the students of the University of Santiago de Compostela. The incorporation of this new classroom, equipped with 40 computers, was possible thanks to the Universia Portal S. A., which transferred all the equipment to the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The aim of this classroom is to bring students closer to the information technologies, encouraging the use of the Internet as supplement to university education. But the classroom will not only be useful to surf the net; students can use all the office computerization tools and software installed to work on their academic assignments, training in the tools on their own and through training courses. A team of 5 scholarship holders supporting the Computer Rooms will assists users, allowing this service to work nonstop for 12 hours every day.

The innovation of this classroom lies in its wireless area. The Universia Classroom, as any other classroom of the Computer Room Network, is connected to the USC data network, so that the connection to the Internet from all computers is facilitated. Besides, in the Universia Classroom there is an area provided with a wireless access point to enable students gain access to the USC data network and from it to the Internet, using a laptop equipped with a wireless card, within the Wireless Network Project of the USC. Some tables, with power points, situated on this area, facilitate the use of this wireless service. In this area there is also a small library with computer books and magazines available for study and consultation.
