Computer and other devices

The network is intended to be used for all the USC staff who come to their centres equipped with a device provided with a wireless communication interface.

Wireless card

The installed access points support IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g standards and allows for communications at 11Mbps and 54 Mbps respectively, with approximate coverage scope of 25 metres inside buildings.

A card compatible with the standards above is required. There are numerous manufacturers selling compatible cards.

Equipment acquisition

The USC encourages, with the support of the Xunta de Galicia, the acquisition of laptops providing an economic aid of 200 euros. The credit available for 2008 is currently exhausted. Further information at  http://ww.usc.es/uniporta .
