The Student Aids and Services Unit was created as a unit of technical support to governing bodies for the implementation and maintenance of aids to students, both external ones or the ones of our own, including those of the University Residence Hall Service (SUR).
It depends organic and functionally on the Vicerrectoría de Estudiantes Cultura y Formación Continua .
It is responsible for managing comprehensively the aids and services, in addition to the teaching ones, that the USC provides to students for the development of their activity, and which are listed below:
Scholarships and Aids to the Study: they are one of the tools that contribute in a more efficient way to make possible the principle of equal opportunities. This Service centralizes the benefits provided to university students regarding the management and processing of scholarships and financial aids for study; these can be national, from the USC or in virtue of an agreement with other institutions.
Particularly, it manages the following scholarships and financial aids:
University Residence Hall Service (SUR): The purpose of the SUR is to provide accommodation to students in order to contribute to their comprehensive education. To achieve these aims it is equipped with quality facilities and services and it organizes multiple and different activities: cultural, sporting, social, etc. The Student Aids and Services Unit is responsible for the management of accommodation vacancies of the SUR, both from the point of view of the process supervision, and place allocation, quota allocation and claims resolution.
Thus, the SUR accommodates people who participate in congresses organized by the members of our University Community and, those people who, not being members of it, come to carry out some educational, researching or cultural activity at the USC.
Student Unions: The Unit manages the administrative activity and functioning of the Student Unions.
The USC, through an annual call of aids to student activity programmes, intends to stimulate the initiatives aimed at the development of the associative fabric, to the generation of participation habits and the knowledge of the University by the students, establishing economic lots devoted to the financing of: projects to invigorate the information and student participation; lecture participation and organization, discussion tables and student forums, education and facilities regarding information and communication technologies which promote the flow and the obtaining of information about topics of interest among the university students of the USC and of other national and foreign universities.
