Description

The Casa de Europa (House of Europe) is a University Residence Hall providing accommodation to guest and visiting teachers from universities around the world coming more and more often to Compostela to participate in our academic and research activities. Providing a historical residence hall for participants involved in academic activities is an objective designed by the University of Santiago de Compostela in order to reinforce the international projection of our University. The Finca Simeón, better known as Finca Vista Alegre (because of the beautiful view of the historical city and the gardens) includes at this moment two buildings of the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Centro de Estudios Avanzados (Centre for Advanced Studies) and the Casa de Europa (House of Europe). Both centres were transferred to the University of Santiago by the consortium of Santiago due to the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the University of Compostela. Turning private property into public property allows us to recover one of the most valuable area in the heart of Compostela.

The House of Europe has six rooms for a double or single use as well as several meeting places which provide the best intellectual atmosphere both for meetings and for lecturers themselves since they can enjoy their participation in congresses, conferences, courses or forums sponsored by the University of Santiago de Compostela. The staff responsible for the maintenance of the Vista alegre complex tries hard to provide personal touch to the hall. That is why they do take care of the details at their best, in order to make guests feel as comfortable as possible during their stay. The House of Europe is located in a strategic site. This is an ideal place to get to know all the aspects of the city and its culture (museums, churches and monuments), its shops and markets, its gastronomy, an its night life. All of them are at hand.
