5. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

A.-       REQUIREMENTS
 
1.-       What is the mínimum age requirement for the exams of the Goethe-Institut?
A minimum age requirement does not exist to take the exams of the Goethe-Institut, only a recommended age. The exams of the Goethe-Institut are at the disposal to all of those who are interested and any persons who desire to take the test may enroll, regardless of age or nationality.
 
2.-       What is the recommended youngest age for the exams of the Goethe- Institut offered by the CLM?
16 years old.
 
 
 B.-       ADMISSION
 
3.-      If I failed the exam, can I take the test again?
 Yes.
           
4.-       Does any reason exist to not be allowed to take the exams? 
Yes, in the case that the number of persons who want to take the exam exceeds the operating capacity of the CLM, the CLM will respect the order of applications.

 

C.-       ENROLLMENT
 
5.-       What do I have to do to enroll for the exam?
You need to go to either office of the CLM (Santiago or Lugo), and within the established time limit, you must: fill out an enrollment form with your personal information, bring a photocopy of your DNI or your passport, and also bring the receipt of payment for the exam. In the case of getting a reduced fee for the exam (members of USC), you will need to attach the photocopy of the appropriate document with proof that you have the right to the reduced fee (USC student ID, enrollment voucher, or certificate of having passed a German course at the CLM). 
  
6.-       Do I have to personally visit the CLM to enroll for the exams?
No. You can also send the aforementioned documents through postal mail to the CLM (Negociado CLM. Casa dos Catedráticos. Avda. das Ciencias s/n 1º C. Campus Vida USC. 15782 Santiago de Compostela), indicating on the outside of the envelope “Exames Goethe".
 
7.-        Where can I get the documents (enrollment form and form 48/2) to enroll for the exams?
a) Collect them personally at whichever office of the CLM  (Santiago or Lugo), or
b) Request them, providing sufficient time for processing, through e-mail to  clmgoethe@usc.es, so they may be sent through postal mail.
 
8.-        Where do I have to pay for the exam?
In whatever office of Novagalicia Banco using the form 48/2 of USC.
 
9.-       Can I pay to take the exam by doing a bank transfer?
No. It is only possible to pay in a Novagalicia bank using the form 48/2 of USC.  
 
10.-      Can several people pay for the exam using the same form?
No. Every candidate will have to pay for the exam using their own 48/2 form. The stamped receipt/copy from Novagalicia banco is your justification of enrollment for the exam.
  
11.-      Can I request to cancel my enrollment in the exam?
Yes, but it will have to be done in writing to (clmgoethe@usc.es or clm@usc) and within the established dates. Within this time frame, you have the right to an 85% return of the exam fee. Outside of the time frame of enrollment, candidates have no right to any return of fees.
 
 
D.-       RATES
 
12.-   Can I benefit from the reduced price if I am a past student of the CLM?
Yes, but only if you have passed a regular German course of the CLM. In this case, you have to include in your enrollment documentation a copy of your certificate from the CLM. 
  
13.-    It was said before that the reduced fee is also applicable to the modules of the Centro de Recursos de Idiomas?
Yes.
 
E.-       INFORMATION AND PREPARATION
 
14.-    What preparation does the CLM offer for the exams of the Goethe- Institute?
The regular courses of the CLM are focused on acheiving the levels A1, A2, and B1 established by the Common European Reference for Languages.  
  
15.-     What information does the Goethe- Institut offer for the exams?
The Goethe- Institut offers detailed information about the rules of the exams and its procedures, such as its equivalency and its international recognition. Its important and recommended to know this información.

 16.-     What preparation does the Goethe-Institut offer for its exams?

The Goethe-Institut offers courses of specific preparation and  exam models, which you can see and listen to online or which also can be downloaded.
 
F.-       TEST DAY
 
 17.-     What do I have to bring the day of the exam?
You have to bring a document of identity (D.N.I., passport, or drivers license) and we recommend you also bring your payment form of the rights to take the exam (48/2 form). You should also bring with you a clock to keep track of the time of the tests, but you will not be able to use your cell phone clock (cell phones must be disconnected). Remember to bring a pen, with blue or black ink.   .
 
18.-     Will the written test and the oral test be on the same day?
Normally, the oral and written test are on different days and the one part of an exam will be during a morning and the second part during an afternoon. However, in an exceptional cases, the oral test can be on the same day of the written test.  
 
G.-       RESULTS AND CERTIFICATES
 
19.-      When will I find out the results of the exams?
In the second half of September grades will be posted on the web page.
 
20.-      When will I receive the official certificate if I passed the exam?
In November.
 
21.-      Where can I collect my certificate?
At the office of the CLM, in Campus Vida (Casa dos Catedráticos. Avda. das Ciencias s/n 1º C) from 9:00 to 14:00. You may collect your certificate personally, through a third party whom you have authorized in writing, or through postal mail for which you will have to request by sending an e-mail to: clmgoethe@usc.es. If you find it more practical to get your certificate in Lugo, you can request it to be sent to the CLM at the Campus de Lugo (Facultade de Humanidades, Aulario do Complexo Docente) and you can get it there.
