MeteoGalicia was founded in 2000 under an agreement between the Environmental Department and the USC. Its primary objectives are to provide a guide to future weather conditions for Galicia as well as to maintain the meteorological and climatological observation network of the Xunta de Galicia.
With a view to improving the accuracy of its functions, MeteoGalicia is organized into four main areas: operative weather forecast, numerical weather forecast, meteorological visualization and climatology. In the same way, MeteoGalicia develops meteorological, oceanographic and wave models of very high resolution in order to improve weather forecasting.
MeteoGalicia has its own web page (http://www.meteogalicia.es) providing information about the weather forecast, the application of meteorological models, climatological and meteorological data analysis as well as further information about other activities of the service.
