Description

The Statutes of the University of Santiago de Compostela stipulate in the first paragraph of the 2nd article:

1. The University of Santiago de Compostela will organise itself democratically and will ensure the participation of the different sectors of the university community in its government. It will implement a resolute defence of equality between men and women with the promotion of their equal participation in decision making, following the advice of the European Union. It will assume the principles of liberty, equality, justice and pluralism as inspirers of university life.

The Office for Gender Equality is created with the aim of implementing the objective of equality between men and women stated above. Its primary mission is to accomplish the commitment of the University of Santiago de Compostela with society for the achievement of real equality between men and women, assuming the principles of human dignity regardless of people's gender, equality and equity of gender as fundamental elements of university activity.
