The activity of the Labour Orientation Area is directed to the University Community:
- Students and People with a USC degree
- Grant Holders, Teaching Staff and PAS of the USC
- Future University Students
And also to:
- Companies and Employer Centres
- Educational Adviser of Secondary School Centres
The services offered are:
- Labour orientation : Support and individual and personalized advise in order to make easier the access to the labour market.
- Professional Interest Resources: Career Opportunities of the USC degrees , professional training programmes, complementary formation that makes easier looking for employment, self-consulting material…
- How to do a curriculum vitae: usefulness, advise to do a good curriculum, more used models …
- Looking for employment : Advice and formation in the techniques to look for employment: how to plan to look for employment, how to deal with a process of selection , how to do a covering letter.... Thus, providing with resources to favour the professional insertion
- Employment : Reception and information of vacancies and collection of curriculum.
- The Labour Orientation Area is a collaborator centre of the Galician Service of Employment

Introduction
The Labour Orientation Area was created after consecutive agreements, from November 1998 to nowadays, signed between the Xunta de Galicia, through the Regional Ministry of Work, and the three Galician universities.
The purpose of this agreement is to contribute to actions appointed to the labour insertion of the university youth, under cover of European plans of active policies for the promotion of employment.
The University of Santiago de Compostela, through the Vice-rectorship of University Community and Social Commitment and the Vice-rectorship of Coordination of the Campus de Lugo, takes on, since then, the task of providing with resources and techniques that facilitates effectively the beginning of professionalization from the development of a personalized orientation service, among other actions.
Furthermore, from this service, tasks that became already unavoidable have been taken on, such as the deepening in knowledge and spreading of professional possibilities of students with a Bachelor Degree of the USC, the continuous knowledge of the labour market behaviour and its demands, as well as collaborating in the contribution of data for the follow-up of labour insertion and professional influence of our students with a degree. In fact, all these tasks are considered relevant signs of the university quality.
