Support Services to Undertaking and Employment are created within the framework of the last agreement signed between the Xunta de Galicia, Regional Labour Ministry, and the three Galician Universities, in June 2006. These services replace the previously named Office of Integrated Services for Young People (OSIX), which started in 1998 as the Occupational Guidance Area, to which the Youth Information Area (now Youth Information and Comprehensive Support to the SAEE Area) and the Self-Employment Area were joined in 2000.
The aim of this protocol between the Xunta and the USC is to promote the undertaking and the awakening of business vocation in students, PhD Students, professors, researchers and university alumni, highlighting the importance of enterprising initiatives to the socio-economical development of Galicia, in favour of employment and wealth creation.
To achieve the aims suggested, the SAEE have three areas: the Self-Employment Area, devoted to the circulation and promotion of the enterprising culture in the university community; the Occupational Guidance Area, which renders different services directed to facilitate support in the integration of its users into the labour market; and the Youth Information and Comprehensive Support to the SAEE Area that, besides the support activities to undertaking and employment actions, carries out tasks in several fields of interest for the university youth community.
