The navigation through the website is organised in such a way as to make it easier to the user.
In all the pages of the web, it exists the possibility of going back to the homepage by pressing the USC logo which is situated on the upper left part of the page.
On the top of the page, there is a series of links which are common to the whole website. These offer several common options such as the following: the possibility of entering the site map, the USC staff Directory, information for contacting the USC and the site Help.
The organisation of the page counts on the presence of "breadcrumbs" reflecting the location of a particular element inside the structure of the whole website. This is the path where the current page is situated. This path enables the users to go upwards through the different levels of the organisation until they reach the homepage.
Navigation is mainly realized through the contents of the "Sections" block. This block is context-dependent, changing according to the current page. Thus, for example, the content of this block in the page of a faculty is different from its content in the page of a department or of a particular service.
There is also the possibility of navigating through Profiles which enable for certain identified users (Students, Administration and Services Staff, Research and Development Staff, Prospective Students, Firms and Foreign Students) to get direct access to the contents specifically designed for their profiles.
In the whole website, a search for key words may be carried out through the search area situated on the upper right part of the page. After introducing a word and pressing the "Search" button, a search through the whole website begins, targeting the pages where the word(s) required occur. The "Advanced Search" option enables to limit the search to certain document types or content categories.
In the whole web site, there may appear files for downloading that require certain software to be opened:
A cookie is a text file which the USC server introduces into your PC to make navigation easier to the user, recording information about their preferences and making the time of downloading pages shorter the next time these are visited.
