    Competence
    1. Ability to apply the principles of the functional syntactic approach to the analysis of new linguistic data.
    2. Ability to critically evaluate different proposals for analysis.
    3. Ability to prepare concise, coherent and well argued answers to the proposed problems and exercises.
    4. Knowledge and use of the main sources of syntactic data and library resources for the study of Spanish syntax.
    5. Communicative competence in the academic record, both orally and in writing with a precise use of the concepts and specialized syntactic terminology.

    Teaching methodology
    The twofold task of this course is theoretical-descriptive and practical. There are two hours of class per week devoted to the presentation and explanation of the contents of the programme, and a one-hour practice session to apply the concepts studied through exercises, questions and commentaries. In both types of sessions we encourage students to actively participate, who should previously read the compulsory bibliography and do the assigned practical tasks on time.
    The course has a virtual classroom with the necessary materials and resources to the development of the issues and the implementation of practices.

    Assessment system
    The assessment will consider:

    a. The work done during the course, which will be assessed through practical tests and short speeches in interactive sessions (30% of Final Mark);

    b. The scores obtained in the compulsory Final Exam (70% of Final Mark).

    For the second chance and for students exempt from attendance, and also for those that from a given moment of the academic year could not continue to attend class, the assessment system will consist of a written examination which will be worth 100% of the Final Mark.
