Presentation

The department of Theory and History of Education has been created between 1985 and 1986 and is situated in the Faculty of Education (Southern campus) of the University of Santiago, since the law of the University Reform and the Statutes of the University of Santiago de Compostela were approved in 1983 and in 1985 respectively.

It develops learning and researching activities in some areas such as (Theory of Education, History of Education and Social Pedagogy) In all these activities lecturers, researchers and students in the Campus of Santiago de Compostela and in the campus of Lugo are taking part actively.

The learning plans will be focused on the following studies:

• Teacher and Social Education
• Pedagogy and Psychopedagogy

Some agreements of collaboration with more than one hundred of public and private Institutions have been promoted and signed. Other agreements have been signed with some European and American universities.
