 Editorial Policy: Aims and Scope

Applied Econometrics and International Development

Journal in English published by the Euro-American Association of Economic Development Studies. http://www.usc.es/economet/eaa.htm

Editorial Policy. The main emphasis of journal AEID is on economic development with and international and quantitative approach. Some relevant criteria for the selection process of articles are the following ones:

 a) Contents: Research relevant for economic development at international or national level, is highly valued, particularly those studies related with macro-econometric modelling, the role of demand and supply, human capital, social capital, investment, employment, trade and international cooperation. Applications of Econometrics to the analysis of other causal relationships may be also published. We give priority to the analysis of economics in one or more big countries, or in several small countries. Analysis of a particular small country should generally include some comparisons with other countries. Other articles, related with particular production sectors or regions within a country, may be submitted to our journal RSES.

 b) Data requirements: It is required to give a clear definition of variables, units of measure and data sources, and present some graphs and/or tables with data of interest to explain the evolution of the main variables. The editorial board will decide if data or graphs are included in the main text, in an Annex or, in some cases, not included in the article, but authors should send those main data when submitting the article.

 c) References: It is advisable that authors show knowledge of articles previously published in the journal on the same subject, avoiding repetitions of methodology and analyses previously written (it is enough to include a paragraph with a short reference to those studies which may be consulted by the readers). The list of references should be mainly limited to the citations included in the article, and it should not be too long, usually not exceeding a 20% of the maximum size of an article (2.4 pages of references in the journal format in case of an article of 12 pages).

 d) Maximum size and complementary annexes: Articles in the printed version of the journal will be usually limited to a length between 8 and 14 pages in the journal format (18cm wide and 25cm high). The maximum length of each article will be decided by the Editorial Board, having into account the particular contents. Complementary methodological questions or results may be included in an Annex to appear in the on line version of the journal but not in the printed version. Another solution, in cases of very long articles, is to split the article into two parts: one part, with the main contents, to be published as a printed article, and another part, with complementary contents, to be published in a working papers series. This policy is intended to give opportunity to more articles to be published per issue and, at the same time, to summarize the results of the study and make the journal more interesting for readers.
