We develop the non-abelian exterior product for Leibniz algebras and investigate its relation to the low-dimensional Leibniz homology. Then the non-abelian exterior product of Leibniz algebras is applied to the construction of an eight-term exact sequence in Leibniz homology, to the comparison of the second Lie and Leibniz homologies of a Lie algebra, and the study of the capability property of Leibniz algebras.
