Award for MD.USe!, a spin-off participated by a CIQUS researcher

The spin-off project of the USC, MD.Use!, which participates Rebeca García Fandiño, post-doctoral researcher at CIQUS, along with Edgar Mixcoha (Department of Applied Physics) was awarded with Young Entrepreneur Award at the XIV Innovative Business Projects Competition from the University of Santiago de Compostela. The spin-off MD.Use! provide tailored consulting services on Molecular Dynamics simulations of biological, chemical or nano systems.

This contest, now in its fourteenth edition, is an initiative of the Entrepreneurship Program of the USC, Uniemprende, and aims to promote the creation of innovative companies promoted by students, graduates or researchers, as well as business innovation and job creation.

Meanwhile, CHEMANTEC, spin-off of the USC incubated in Emprendia Building, received the Woman Entrepreneur Award. This company, promoted by Patricia Blanco Carro, Casal Cristina Romero, Gonzalo Vidal Hermelo, Sendón Raquel Garcia and Ana Rodríguez Bernaldo de Quirós, performs technical testing and consultancy aimed at checking the quality and safety of consumer products.

Finally, the prize was awarded to the Technology Based Spin-off project of the USC, CELTALGA EXTRACT promoted by Marivel Sanchez Guerrero and Jorge Torres Sineiro. The production of algae extracts from the Galician coast using ultrasound technology protected by patents, is the business model of this spin-off, which states that the algal extract will be used by the active cosmetics industry.
