The CiQUS building, with an approximate area of 5,900 m2, counts with 22 research laboratories, equipped with state-of-the-art lab furniture and services, suitable to cover the specific requirements of the whole research strategic areas. Furthermore, the building has 35 offices and 4 shared offices, 2 meeting rooms, a seminar room and other general services (lactation room, canteen, concierge, storage rooms, etc.).
Additionally, 1,000 m2 are dedicated to instrumental support facilities. This is a highly well-equipped infrastructure with the necessary services and security systems for the optimal use of the instrumental equipment, and it is mainly located in the basement of the building:
- Singular Laboratories. equipped with advanced scientific instrumentation: an Advanced Microscopy Laboratory, including an hyperspectral microscope (HSI), a confocal spinning disk microscope and an epifluorescence microscopy; an AFM Laboratory, equipped with an atomic force microscope; a PLD Laboratory, equipped with a pulsed laser desorption system; a Lithography Laboratory, equipped with film coating and handling systems; and 2 Innovation and Technologies Development Laboratories, currently dedicated to the development of new thermal conductivity measurement systems and new batteries.
- General Support Laboratories. Four laboratories of scientific equipment which operate on a multi-user mode. They are equipped with instrumentation for chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC, SFC, LCMS, GCMS, GPC); spectroscopy techniques (spectrophotometry, fluorescence, CD, IR), particle analyzers (DLS, MADLS), calorimetry techniques (DSC, TGA, ITC), and other experimental techniques (peptide synthesizers, globe box, ultracentrifugation, freeze dryers, etc.).
- Other Specific Laboratories. Lab spaces designed for analytic and characterization techniques, including: an NMR Room equipped with 3 spectrometers (2 - 300 MHz, 1 - 500 MHz), two of them including an autosampler module; 2 Cell Culture Labs, equipped with class II biosafety cabinets, and other cell culture stuff (autoclave, sterilizer, etc.); a High-Pressure Laboratory, equipped with extra-safety systems and with a high-pressure reactor system; a Radioactive Facility, equipped with a scintillation counter, a Geiger counter, ultracentrifugation and deep-freezer; an Electrophysiology Room, equipped with a patch clamp system, and two Cold Rooms with a total surface area over 20 m2.

In addition to our own facilities, CiQUS researchers have access to the general research support services of the USC (see www.usc.es/gl/investigacion/riaidt/) most of them located at the CACTUS building, 200 m away from CiQUS. These services include a high field NMR (750 MHz), high-resolution mass spectrometry, super-resolution confocal microscopy, electronic microscopy (TEM and SEM), X-Ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, etc, as well as the associated technologic platforms.
