Prof. Enrique Guitián received his PhD degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in 1981 for work in the field of natural product synthesis under Professor L. Castedo. After a postdoctoral work at the University of Hannover under Professor Winterfeldt he continued his career at Santiago (Associate Professor, 1985–1992; Tenured Professor, 1992).
His main research interests lie in the fields of natural products synthesis and aryne chemistry, especially pericyclic and transition-metal-catalyzed reactions of arynes.
