Following the talent recruitment campaign launched by the CiQUS with its Summer Fellowships programme, currently 10 undergraduate students have the opportunity to learn about the research in chemistry, working with excellent research teams within first class facilities.

The selected students were received by the Scientific Director of the center, the Prof. José L. Mascareñas, who gave them an official welcome and explained the model of organization and functioning of CiQUS. They all work since the beginning of July in the different host research groups. During July they will also participate in the general scientific activities organized by CiQUS, such as internal seminars or the Conferences Programme.

Prof. Mascareñas has highlighted that among the planned activities, particularly stands a Meeting with Professor Richard R. Schrock (MIT, USA), Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2005), and, later this month, a lecture by Professor Stephen L. Buchwald (MIT, USA), who won the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award (2014).

The students will also have the opportunity to interact with other researchers during the XXXV Biennial Meeting of Chemistry organized by the RSEQ (Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry).

The ten selected students come from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and the universities of Barcelona (UB), Granada (UGR), La Laguna (ULL), Malaga (UMA), Basque Country (EHU), Valencia (UV) and Santiago de Compostela (USC).
