Manuel Bermejo Patiño

Prof. Manuel Rafael Bermejo Patiño received (1972) his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). In 1968 he started his academic career in the USC. He became full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1988. He has held different management positions at the University of Santiago de Compostela: Chairman of the Education Sciences Institute (1986-1991) and Head of the Inorganic Chemistry Department (1993-96). He was President of the Interuniversity Committee of Galicia (1999-2011).
His research is represented by around 300 papers covering Artificial Photosynthesis, Manganese Coordination Chemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry. He is now interested in Functional Helicates for application on catalysis and nanotechnology. He also researches on History of the Science in Galicia, Galician Historic-Scientific Heritage and Science and Woman.
He has authored and coordinated 20 books on Science and Scientific Divulgation. He has organized and acted as commissioner of numerous science exhibitions including the recovery of the scientific-technological heritage.
