Predoctoral position (supervisor: prof. Massimo Lazzari) · Call for expression of interest

16/10/2025

We are seeking for a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the Polymers group at CiQUS and carry out a doctoral thesis in collaboration with the DITAPREIN (Biotechnology for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases) group, focused on the evaluation of the biodegradability of new bioplastics made from bacteria, based on polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), isolating microorganisms and enzymes that allow their depolymerization and recycling. If you're passionate about science with real-world impact and want to be part of a dynamic, international team shaping a cleaner future, we’d love to hear from you.

The investigation is part of our activity within the Horizon Europe EU funded project BIO-INTELLIGENT MANUFACTURING OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL BIO-BASED POLYMER SYSTEMS (BIOMAPS), also in connection with a Horizon MSCA SE project A multidisciplinary and circular approach towards the development of innovative, SAFE-by-design, (bio) degRadable multifunctional COATings (SAFERCOAT)
