#5 - Thermoelectrics based on two dimensional nanostructured materials

CiQUS researcher Francisco Rivadulla works on new thermoelectric materials, and he was awarded by UE with an ERC-Starting Grant of 1.5 million euros.

In this video he explains what are thermoelectric materials and the current challenges in this area. Professor Rivadulla also show us the approach followed in his lab, which is based on two-dimensional oxide nanostructures correlated.

Working on the scalability of their designs, the research group have also developed an easy and cheap chemical method for depositing very thin layers, only a few nanometers, but obtaining a quality comparable to that obtained by laser-based techniques.

Professor Rivadulla collaborates with research groups in the U.S.A. (MIT, Los Alamos), France (CNRS) and Spain.
