Dr. Olalla Vázquez, former PhD student in the group of José Luis Mascareñas and Eugenio Vázquez Sentís at CIQUS, received the silver medal from the European Young Chemistry Award (EYCA), as announced in the Closing Ceremony of the 4th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress, held in Prague (26-30 August, 2012).
The EYCA recognizes and showcases the excellent research being carried out by young scientists working in the chemical sciences. The finalists had presented their work before a jury and had taken questions from the jury and the audience during the conference. The medal awarded to Olalla, who is currently a Postdoctoral Marie-Curie fellow at the Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin, recognizes her PhD work developed at CIQUS and at the Department of Organic Chemistry of USC.
