The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), released annually by the University of Shanghai, ranks USC between the 151 and 200 positions worldwide in the field of Chemistry. In the same group are also located other Spanish universities highly renowned in this discipline, such as UAB, UAM, UCM, Rovira i Virgili and the University of Oviedo. It is worth to note that this is the first time that USC ranks in the top-200 of any specific knowledge area, a fact which is especially relevant this year, when the University of Santiago falls from the top-500 in the general ranking for the first time since 2009.
