Full Professor

Flor Rodríguez Prieto graduated in Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1978 and received her PhD in Physical Chemistry from the same university in 1984. Between 1984 and 1986, she performed postdoctoral research on photochemical processes at the Spectroscopy Department of the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen (Germany).

She has held various teaching positions at the University of Santiago, and since 2010 she has been Full Professor of Physical Chemistry. She was part of the Governing Board of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry and its Photochemical Group, being president of the Group between 2001 and 2003.

In her work, she analyzes the response to light of molecular systems to obtain information on the structure and properties of biological systems and molecular materials. Her research focuses on spectroscopic and kinetic studies of photoinduced processes, especially processes of proton transfer, electron transfer and complex formation. She is a specialist in fluorescence techniques and in the study of fluorescent probes.
