Summer Meeting - Current Topics in Condensed Matter Physics and Chemistry

06/07/2012

The Chemistry of Condensed Matter Research Group, led by Francisco Rivadulla, who is a CIQUS PI and ERC Starting Grant Award, organize the scientific meeting "Current Topics in Condensed Matter Physics and Chemistry", to be held in Santiago de Compostela on 12 and 13 July 2012.

This first Summer Meeting is a two-day free event designed to bring together students, postdocs and faculty from Santiago de Compostela, and everywhere else, in a relaxed setting to discuss about current topics of interest in condensed matter physics and chemistry.

The meeting will be held at the Centro Singular de Investigación en Química Biológica y Materiales Moleculares (CIQUS) on the "Campus Vida" of the University of Santiago de Compostela, between July 12-13th. Since it will be an all-day event, coffee breaks will be available. Parking is also available anywhere on Campus.

The following topics are covered:
• Transition metal oxides and oxides heterostructures,
• Strongly correlated electrons and high-temperature superconductivity,
• Nanodevices, nanoelectronics and molecular materials.

Invited speakers who have confirmed their participation:
• Luis Morellón, Instituto de Nanociencia de Aragón, Zaragoza
• Gervasi Herránz, Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Barcelona, CSIC
• Berta Gómez Lor, Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, CSIC
• Cristian Batista, Los Alamos National Lab, USA
• Carlos Martínez Boubeta, Facultad de Física, Universidad de Barcelona
• Joaquín Fernández-Rossier, International Iberian Nanotechnology Lab., Portugal
• Jesús Mosqueira, Dpto. Física de la Materia Condensada, USC
• Paul Bach, CIQUS, USC
• Víctor Pardo, Dpto. Física Aplicada, USC
• Iván González, Centro de Supercomputación de Galicia
