CiQUS, along with other centers in the CIGUS Network, was honored by the Galician Regional Government this Tuesday for its pivotal role in driving excellence in university research and fostering progress in Galicia. The event, presided over by the President of the Regional Government, was attended by the conselleiro de Educación, Ciencia, Universidades y Formación Profesional, the chancellor of the University of Santiago de Compostela, directors of the CIGUS centers, and other academic and civic authorities.

In the evaluation process of the research centers within the University System of Galicia (SUG), CiQUS renewed its accreditation as the top-rated center of excellence last year. During the ceremony, CiQUS Scientific Director José Luis Mascareñas emphasized the importance of "continuing to expand our knowledge base, as it is crucial for addressing challenges such as pandemics and other societal issues. Investing in science is essential for building a more educated and critically thinking society."

The CIGUS Network, comprising 1,600 researchers and securing over 180 million euros in competitive projects over the past four years, is a unique model co-financed under the Feder Galicia 2021-2027 operational program.
