Early Stage Researcher (ESR) position at MSCA-ITN “HeatNMof”

21/04/2020

The Group of Dr. Pablo del Pino offers a ESR Position within the project HeatNMof, an European Training Network funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA-ITN).

PhD Project: “Synthesis of plasmonic inorganic nanoparticles for integration into nanoMOFs as functional cores or in situ filling”.

Hosting Institution

Bionanotools Laboratory at Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS) – Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The successful applicant will be enrolled in the USC (2020) to obtain a doctoral degree.

Objectives

The aim of this PhD project is to develop synthetic methods based on colloidal chemistry for: 1) the fabrication and surface engineering of plasmonic inorganic cores, which will serve as “seeds” to grow MOF-based shells thereby leading to core-shell nanosystems; 2) In situ synthesis plasmonic nanostructures within the MOFs porosity.

Benefits

The successful candidates will receive an attractive salary in accordance with the MSCA regulations for Early Stage Researchers. The salary includes a living allowance, a mobility allowance and a family allowance (if married). The guaranteed PhD funding is for 36 months.

Specific Requirements:

  • MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biology, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience on (inorganic) nanomaterial synthesis.
  • Expertise on characterization (XRD, TGA, fluid sorption, spectroscopies, microscopies, etc.).
  • Desirable: experience on nanomaterials and surface chemistry (Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis, Dynamic Light Scattering, spectroscopy, etc.).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the eligibility requirements for MSCA-ITN Programme at the date of recruitment. In particular, they must accomplish the mobility rule: to not have resided or carried out their main activity in Spain for more than 12 months (cumulative) in the three years immediately before their recruitment (starting date indicated in the contract).

Expected Starting Date: August-September 2020.

Application: send an email to pablo.delpino [at] usc.es with the subject "ESR4".

About HeatNMof
