Welcome reception at Pazo de Fonseca at 20:00 h hosted by the Rector of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. The Pazo de Fonseca, built in 1532-1544, is one of the oldest and iconic university buildings. Participants in ECMI2016 and accompanying persons are kindly invited to attend (drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served).
- 15th June 2016 (Wednesday PM)
Excursion to the coast (Rías Baixas) visiting A Lanzada beach, which is 85 km from Santiago. Excursion departure is scheduled at 15:30h from the Faculty of Biology (conference location). The excursion includes a boat trip and a visit to an albariño winery in Cambados, where a wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres will be offered. Arriving at Santiago will be around 22:30h.
There is an alternative guided tour of Santiago de Compostela for those who are not willing to travel. It includes a visit to the Cathedral, a walk along the history of the University and a tour on the tourist train. The tour finishes with a snack in a typical bar. Excursion departure will be at 16:00h from the Faculty of Biology (conference location) and it is scheduled to end around 21:00h.
Important information: Please be reminded that it is compulsory for any accompanying persons to indicate if they are interested in any of the excursions upon registration.
- 16th June 2016 (Thursday)
The Gala dinner will be held at the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, one of the main tourist attractions of Santiago de Compostela. The Hostal is located on the Obradoiro Square near the Cathedral. Dinner is scheduled at 20:30h.
Important information: Please be reminded that it is compulsory for any accompanying persons to indicate if they are interested in attending the gala dinner upon registration.
- 18th June 2016 (Saturday)
Additional excursion consisting on a hike as part of the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago.
This hike is optional and it is not included in the registration fees. Cost 35€: includes lunch, coach, official mountain guides and insurance.
Timetable:
08:30: Departure from the Faculty of Mathematics.
13:15: Lunch at Ribadiso hostel (Albergue de Ribadiso da Baixo).
16:00: Stop at the airport for those flying in the afternoon.
