Research group Escola Cultura (ESCULCA)
The ESCULCA Research Group, which is located at the Faculty of Sciences of Education, is registered at the Research Groups and Researches catalogue from the University of Santiago de Compostela with the GI-1790 code.
The Group is integrated by professors of the Faculties of Sciences of Education and Psychology from the USC, professors members of other universities, non-universities professors and others professionals of the socio-educational field. Moreover, young people who are starting their research trajectories are currently working at the Group.
We have, indeed, an interdisciplinary work vocation as it correspond to the pragmatic and epistemological nature of the contents and thematic areas that define our work in the field of education in general and in the field of pedagogy in particular.
Actions
Besides the teaching dedication that the members of the Group have at the USC and other universities, the actions we perform daily are the following:
- Support to the realization of Doctoral Thesis.
- Implementation of Research Projects.
- Development of I+D contracts signed by the Group in collaboration with Institutions both private and publics.
- Publication of books and monographs.
- Publication of scientific articles in national and international Journals.
- Presentation of studies in National and International Congresses.
- Organization of Congresses, Seminars, Symposia, and Scientific Conferences.
- Participation and implementation of collaboration and mobility programs with national and international universities.
- Consultancy and advisory to Groups, Associations and Institutions.
- Generation and management of research networks and professional development.
- Collaboration in training activities for professors and others professionals from the education and social services field.
It is about a well consolidated group in the university and educational framework in general, as the evidence show, either through publications, projects, awards, doctoral thesis, I+D contracts, organization and participation in scientist events, of stays and exchange with universities from other countries, etc.
Certainly, the R+D development is an area that the ESCULCA group prioritizes, due to the support received by the same university, the Galician Regional Government, European institutions, local administration, Ministry of Education and Science, and foundations.
The theoretical and reflexive dimension present, as it is logical, in a pedagogic research group, gets stronger every day with the important practical side of the work we do in pursuit of the improvement of educational processes within and out of school, which is supported by a magnificent collaboration between professors, pedagogues, social educators and psicopedagogues throughout the Galician geography.

For this reason, the membership in our research group is open to whoever wanting to participate in the concerns that motivate us, that we can summaries in two words: equity and quality in education.
